Golden Chapter in the History

Rang bhoomi of Munshi Prem Chand,

We watch in the Covid Winter of 2020.

Players of muffled(land) in the roles of Eng(land)

Actors have changed; rules unchanged.

Drought and Famine feared the farmers.

Dichotomy was the prank played on the soil.

MSP was like a sour crop.

He reaped the harvest,

Duly returned with chaff.

Tell me who gained the gold grain?

Sons of soil strangulated in struggles.

Was it a Play or History?

To this day……

India, a land of unity in diversity,

Secular in soul with oneness in spirit,

I read in the books of History.

Farmers of India have harvested,

This movement in the pages of world History.

Shabads, Namaz, Hymns and Prayers from Holy Bible,

Choired in chorus of humanity.

Unwalled Mosques, Gurudwaras, Temples and Churches,

With silken carpets of wilted and greens,

Chandlers of stars and moon,

Halo of Sun and Seven colours of rainbow,

Echoed with oneness of formless, we call God.

Farmers and supporters opened the Heavenly gates of solidarity.

Her and His in unanimity,

Strive to stir humanity.

Kisan bhoomi of Justice and tranquility,

We will ink with sweet and salty sweat.

Our gift to the characters of posterity.

Penned by farmers for the dream of Munshi Prem Chand.

Every Indian student is exposed to the contributions of Munshi Prem Chand in the social reforms of India. Hindi Curriculum is incomplete without a play by Prem Chand.

Unfortunately we have reached back to pre-independence times where people with peace marches tried to protest for the unfair reforms.

Premchand is considered the first Hindi author whose writings described the problems of the poor and middle-class strata. In the 1920s, he was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi's non-co-operation movement and the accompanying struggle for social reform. During this period, his works dealt with the social issues such as poverty, exploitation of farmers, dowry system ,educational reform and political oppression .His works reflect economic liberalisation of the peasantry and the working class, This can be seen in works like Rangabhumi.
